Join the CISS

The CISS has more than 80 members including the main social security institutions in the hemisphere, representing the widest range of agencies specializing in the social security sector; from the institutions governing social security policy to the organizations devoted to research on these topics.

All of them engage and carry out their tasks around the activities of the CISS, encouraging sharing and regional cooperation.

Full Members

Full Members of the CISS are agencies representing social security in each of the countries in the Americas. Requirements to become a full member of the CISS:

Submitting an application for admission in writing addressed to the President of the CISS.

Validating the status of representative of Social Security in the country of origin.

Formally and unconditionally accepting the Statute and Regulations of the CISS.

Associate Members

Associate Members of the CISS are agencies and institutions from countries in the Americas that monitor one or several branches of Social Security, were created by national law, have a mandatory status concerning the population sector they serve, and do not operate for the purpose of making profit. Requirements to become an associate member of the CISS:

Submitting an application for admission in writing addressed to the President of the CISS.

Validating that the institution manages one or several branches of Social Security, has been established by national law with a mandatory status with regard to the sector of the population it serves and without the purpose of making profit.

Formally and unconditionally accepting the Statute and Regulations of the CISS.

Adherent Members

Adherent members of the CISS are public or private agencies and institutions in the Americas that manage one or several branches of social security and have been created or acknowledged by the legal system of the corresponfing State. Requirements to become and Adherent Member of the CISS:

Submitting an application for admission in writing addressed to the President of the CISS.

Validating that the institution manages one or several branches of social security and that it was created or is recognized b the legal system of the corresponding State.

Formally and unconditionally accepting the Statute and Regulations of the CISS.

Related Members

Related Members of the CISS are organizations, federations and other entities in the Americas that study and/or carry out research on social security and are approved by the full member of the State where they operate. Requirements to become a Related Member of the CISS:

Submitting an application for admission in writing addressed to the President of the CISS.

Validating that the institution studies and/or carries out research on social security andis approved by the full member of the State where they operate.

Formally and accepting unconditionally the Statute and Regulations of the CISS

Rights and obligations of the members of the CISS

Unconditionally accepting and complying with the Statute, the regulations and procedures manuals of the CISS.

Participating in the meetings and activities of the CISS and promptly responding to the calls for participation of its bodies.

Ensuring the implementation of the recommendations of the CISS in their respective States and organizations.

Submitting proposals and initiatives related to the objectives and functioning of the CISS, in accordance with the regulations of its bodies.

Being elected to the positions of the CISS, in accordance with the Statute and the respective regulations.

Designating a representative to carry out the assignments for which they have been chosen and act as liaison before the American Commissions on Social Security, giving them the necessary support and facilities for the fulfilment of their functions.

Proposing their State as host of the meetings of the bodies of the CISS, providing the necessary support.

Associate members and adherent members may exercise this right in coordination with the full member of their corresponding State.

Proposing ther corresponding institution to carry out technical, academic and research events, providing the necessary support.

Receiving technical support and cooperation from the bodies of the CISS, according to their programs and regulations.

Getting scholarships for the courses and seminars of the Inter-American Center for Social Security Studies in accordance with the Financial Regulations of the CISS:

The scholarships of the CIESS cover tuition, training, lodging and food, when the academic events take place in its headquarters, and they do not include learning materials.

Associate and adherent members who are current on the payment of their fees are entitled to a total of five 100 percent scholarships and five 50 percent scholarships during each academic year of the CIESS for the events in the annual program at headquarters.

They may choose to use instead five 50 percent scholarships, or two 100 percent scholarships and one 50 percent scholarship, that is, a maximum of seven point five scholarships in total.

Communicating the changes and developments taking place in their institutions in terms of social security.
Providing the CISS timely information as requested, and as allowed to provide in accordance with their own internal rules.

Receiving free publications of the CISS when prescribed in the regulations.

Promoting the activities of the CISS and disseminating information about them.

Paying the annual fee of the CISS on time.

Proposing candidates for the positions of the CISS from the group of full, associate and adherent members. The positions prescribed in the Statute for adherent members may be taken as long as they maintain a minimum of twelve members accredited by the CISS.

Presenting proposals of reforms to the Statute, regulations and procedures manuals of the CISS.
